ONE of the country's leading riders will be tackling Bromsgrove Olympique's open ten mile time trial on May 30.

The event is the club's biggest competition of the year and has been attracting an increasing number of riders over the last few years.

Last year saw a record 107 tackle the trials and club officials are hoping that number could be reached again.

But Bottrill's participation is a coup for Olympique, with the Leicestershire-based postman one of the best riders in country after a brilliant 2013.

He is currently reigning 10, 25 and 50m champion and was also crowned champion of champions in 2014.

Bottrill, who rides for team Drag2zero, set the second fastest ever 10m time trial ever in 17 minutes and 40 seconds, only just behind current Team GB rider Alex Dowsett.

The event will start Broom Village Hall, with the first rider setting off at 2pm.

The club will also be hosting National Schools 10 mile Championship, which was dedicated to godfather of British cycling George Herbert Stancer.

The closing date for entries is on Tuesday and anyone interested can find out more by go to www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk
