BATTLING Studley picked up their first win in the Midlands Football League Division One in three months as they edged out Alvis Sporting 1-0 on Saturday.

Shane Brassington's second half strike saw the Bees brought a much-needed smile to the fans, who have seen their dismantled after the exit of former boss Adrian Mander.

Since then, Studley have been forced to sign almost player available to ensure they fulfil their fixtures until the end of the season.

Manager Kevin Kingham said: "It was nice to cheer up the fans, who really haven't had anything to smile about for a while.

"When you're throwing teams together and have lads who are meeting for the first time in the changing room up against teams who have played 40 games together you are always going to struggle.

"But the players have done their best and I thought the game was very close.

"The ball was cleared as far as Shane, who fired home from eight yards.

"It was a huge win for us, it's our first since January 24."

Studley, who were set to play leaders Highgate United on Tuesday night, face AFC Hinckley on Saturday at home (3pm ko) and then go to Littleton next Wednesday (7.45pm ko).
