BROMSGROVE Sporting will be aiming for nirvana in the FA Vase Third Round on Saturday.

The Rouslers go into their clash at Thurnby Nirvana firing on all cylinders.

Sporting hammered Borrowash Victoria 5-0 in the previous round last Wednesday and then returned to the Midlands Football League Division One on Saturday and routed sorry Racing Club Warwick 8-0.

But Thurnby, who are a level above Sporting in the ChromaSport and Trophies United Counties League, will be their toughest test yet.

Manager Paul Smith has had this weekend’s rivals watched and also played them in a pre-season friendly when he was in charge of Studley.

But Sean Brain bagged a brace and Reece Hewitt and Danny Lennon hit the back of the next to see off Borrowash in Derbyshire, Bromsgrove are full of confidence.

Smith said: “Of all the teams we could have had I thought Thurnby were the hardest and then to be drawn away as well makes it even harder.

“But we played at Stourport Swifts and forced a replay and then we got close to knocking Coleshill out of the FA Cup, so we have performed well against teams from a level above.

“We couldn’t be going into the game in any better form as a team and we’ll also have Chris Conway back as well so we’re looking in good shape and looking forward to it.”

Bromsgrove then followed up their fine result by recording a resounding victory over out of form Warwick.

Sam Wills bagged a hat-trick while Jozef Jakab (2), Lennon and Aaron Daniels and Craig Jones all hit the back of the net.

Sporting are sixth in the league but have games in hand over the top five sides.

Smith said: “I said in my programme notes before this game that we must keep our feet on the ground.

“We’re in a very good run of form, but we’ve won nothing yet and I was delighted to see us follow up beating Borrowash with this result.

“Racing Club are not one of the division’s best sides at the moment but no-one has torn them apart like we did.”
