Bromsgrove Sporting 1, Coventry Copsewood 1 - abandoned
BROMSGROVE Sporting’s Midlands Division One game against Coventry Copsewood was abandoned after 34 minutes following a broken leg to Copsewood’s left back Daniel Povey, writes Chris Fox.
The visiting player was challenged by Rousler’s captain Simon Fitter on the half way line, although first contact was made with the ball the tackle was high and firm contact was made with Povey’s lower leg.
The referee immediately halted the game and after calming down the players dismissed Fitter with a straight red card.
Sporting were leading 1-0 at that point thanks to a wonderful 25 yard strike from left back Jack Wilson that flew past a static Mitchell Campbell on 12 minutes.
However, the entertainment finished just after the half hour and with a 40 minute delay for the ambulance to arrive and for the Copsewood player to be treated on the pitch it was no surprise when the game was abandoned.
