PAUL Smith is happy for in-form Bromsgrove Sporting to go under the radar during another important set of fixtures.

The Rouslers could have moved up to third in the Midlands Football League Premier depending on whether they defeated Pershore yesterday and other results in the league.

Last night's fixture kicked-off another tough run of matches for the Victoria Ground outfit, who then entertain Coventry Copsewood on Saturday (3pm ko).

Sporting are well-placed to chase down the top five sides, with leaders Highgate United within touching distance.

Smith said: "To be honest I am happy to be going under the radar.

"At the moment, people are talking about other clubs for promotion and that suits me, we'll just keep on getting results and playing well.

"We could be right up there if we defeat Pershore and we've then a tough game at Coventry Copsewood.

"Things are going well, we have won eight and drawn two of the last ten games and the team have really started to come together."

Sporting were stopped in their tracks in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup when their clash at Littleton was called off because of torrential rain.

Smith had been planning to hand a few of his squad players a chance to shine but saw his plans thwarted.

"It is frustrating for the lads who were going to get a chance, particularly because we'll be going back to the team who has done so well for us in the league for Pershore," added the manager.

But the unscheduled break in the league means that midfield enforcer Ryan Mahon has been able to recover from a groin strain.

Danny Morris is nearing a return to the fray after recovering from a toe problem earlier in the season.

The manager commented: "Ryan is a massively important player for the team and he has been magnificent.

"He's my enforcer, he gets stuck in, breaks up play, so it's good he's got over his injury."

Meanwhile, Smith has banned talk of their FA Vase Second Round clash at Borrowash Victoria on November 22 until training next Thursday.
