Littleton 0, Bromsgrove Sporting 3

BROMSGROVE Sporting kicked their title challenge in the Midlands Football League Division One into a high gear with a fine win over Littleton on Saturday.

The Rouslers avenged their home defeat with an impressive display as goals for Chris Conway, Aaron Daniels and Sam Wills helped to knock the Ton off the top sport and end their 11 game unbeaten run in the league.

Sporting recorded their sixth win in the last seven league games and with matches in hand on the teams above them, they looked well-placed for an assault on the top spot.

The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute after a flowing move down the left wing.

Tight defending by Scott Smith caused Littleton player Robbie Bunn to lose the ball under pressure to give Reece Hewitt the opportunity to drive to the touchline before squaring the ball for Conway to slide the ball home from six yards.

Most of the action for the home team was coming from Nathan Haywood; his free kick on 20 minutes was cleared over the bar by Rouslers captain, and former Littleton player, Simon Fitter.

On 28 minutes, the same player was lucky to remain on the pitch when he scythed down Conway, referee Tyler deciding that a free kick and a conversation with the home player was all that was required.

The visitors should have doubled their lead just before half-time, Sean Brain latching onto a long clearance but seeing his low shot just go agonizingly wide.

The first 25 minutes of the second half were spent in the Bromsgrove half, but Littleton were forced into making long range shots as the Rouslers defensive unit stood firm against the pressure.

The visitors extended their advantage on 76 minutes. A swift break from defence by Aaron Daniels allowed Wills space 25 yards from goal and when the opportunity arose he fired an unstoppable shot into Hayden Whitcombe’s top left hand corner.

Returnee Lewis Clarke replaced Wills and the rest of the game was spent counting down the clock as the home team appeared to have lost any desire to compete.

Bromsgrove scored their third goal six minutes from time when Daniels capped a fine performance when he beat the offside trap to collect an inch perfect pass from Conway before sliding the ball past an advancing Whitcombe.
