THE ladies from Droitwich Golf Club did the double at the County Team Championships.

The team of Laura Whitehead, Trudi Humphries, MaryJane Shannon and Philippa Daniel won the best gross and nett team prizes at Worcester Golf and Country Club.

Meanwhile, in the Inter Club League, Droitwich ladies Linda Richards, Geri Muir, Sharon Butler, Pam Perry and Margaret Wood saw off Redditch the match 4&1 to win the final.

Droitwich celebrated their 30th anniversary last Monday, with the trio of Geri Muir, Val Evans and Chris Mayneord winning the competition.

l Droitwich Spa High School student Oliver Gough represented England in a clash against Scotland in Southport.

He won his singles and doubles matches as England saw off the Scots 9-6.

He had previously finished ninth at the National Championships.

He said: “It was a great experience and I am very glad that I could do my bit in our 9-6 victory over the Scots.”

  •  The pairs stableford competition at Ombersley Ladies was won by Jane Brian and Pat Williams with 44 points.

In second was Sandra Pomeroy with Mary Prior, followed by place was Margaret Leatherby with Helene Beards
