DROITWICH started their season in style winning 16-10 with a solid performance at newly-promoted Pinley.
Spa started slowly in the first 20 minutes, going 3-0 down due to straightforward penalty from the hosts.
But the visitors responded well, with Steve Poke setting up Chris Oliver to score.
Spa had to soak up some pressure in the second half but Bobby Scott-Walker edged them ahead with a penalty.
Pinley went ahead again with a try but Spa responded well and attacked with more aggression.
A Scott-Walker penalty regained the lead for Spa, before good handling from James Thomas in midfield set up an overlap and Ben Ream beat two men to score in the corner after a neat inside pass from Sean Walker.
Spa held off Pinley with some solid defence to secure an encouraging win.
Their next match in a home clash with Banbury on Saturday (3pm ko).
