HOCKEY: Droitwich Men recorded their first win of the summer with a 6-3 win over Ludlow.

Marcus Claytor hit Spa’s opener with a neatly flicked finish, easily beating the ‘keeper from close range.

The game opened up as Spa poured forward against the ten men of Ludlow, but their centre created their equalizer.

Matt Lee restored Droitwich’s lead after 26 minutes before Ludlow levelled two minutes before the break.

But Alex Brewe popped up to hand Spa a 3-2 half-time lead.

Ludlow made it 3-3 after the interval beforeGuy Newson bagged a fourth for Droitwich on 46 minutes.

Lee scored Spa’s fifth with a neat reverse finish after a quickly-taken free hit and the home side rounded off the scoring with a Brewer tap-in.

Droitwich Spa Ladies bounced back from three defeats with a 3-1 win over Kidderminster giving them their sixth win of the season.

Kidderminster took an early lead before Hannah Robson rounded the ‘keeper to level.

Robson continued to torment the Kidderminster defence and set up a number of chances before Georgie Gibbs popped up on the far post to put Droitwich into the lead.

Kidderminster tried to regain the initiative and forced a couple of good saves from Kaleigh Thomas in the Droitwich goal.

The game was put beyond reach with a third Spa goal.

Skilful play on the right from Megan Wardle set Robson free to set-up Harriet Grant to finish from close range as Spa Ladies recorded their sixth win of the summer campaign.
