DROITWICH Spa Men sunk to their fifth defeat in their latest Summer League as they went down 7-3 to Barford Tigers.

Spa were with out regulars Alex Brewer, Marcus Claytor and Lee Wakelham but welcomed back Richard Waters, while Chris Wade Nick Bates and Dexter Williamson started their first games of the campaign.

In the opening few minutes Droitwich look composed and their opener arrived from Matthew Lee stick after seven minutes.

But their falability at holding leads was cruelly exposed with in a minute as Tigers equalised from a reverse stick effort.

Matthew Lee had a glorious chance to put Spa ahead in the tie but his reverse stick effort sailed over the bar.

But Barford kept the ball and levelled from a penalty corner after 12 minutes.

Spa’s rivals extended their lead further after 18 minutes with quick passing as Droitwich centre was ruthlessly exposed and home side buried his effort.

They then bagged two more goals to take a 5-1 lead into half-time.

Barford opened the second half quickly and scored two more goals.

Richard Waters pushed further forward and he popped up in the circle with a shot which was cleared but fell to Dexter Williamson to score his first goal of the campaign to reduce the arrears after 22 minutes.

This gave Spa hope and further chances fell to Neal and Williamson and Spa created further scoring opportunities from short corners as wing backs Nick Bartle and Alexei Payne distributed the ball effectively creating pressure up field and Neal bagged their third goal.
