Sporting’s £3k boost for youth

First published in Sport

BROMSGROVE Sporting’s hopes of setting up two youth teams have been boosted by a £3,000 windfall.

The Grow the Game Football Foundation grant allows the Victoria Ground outfit to run U18 and U21 teams.

It will also ensure that aspiring coaches have access to the latest FA training programmes.

Andy Parr, Sporting’s youth team secretary, said: “It is important for a town like Bromsgrove to provide access to Open Age football for its young people, and the support of the Football Foundation’s funding brings that access not only to players but coaches and other young people in the local community.”

Grow the Game funding increases participation by helping clubs provide opportunities for new players, or training volunteers to support new players and teams.

Meanwhile, Sporting have cancelled their pre-season clash against Hinckley on July 26 as they are in the same division as The Rouslers.

The proposed friendly ag-ainst Tividale has also been cancelled due to the league season starting on Saturday, August 2.

Their friendlies commence on Saturday, July 12, at Stratford (2.30pm ko).

The first signings for the new season are: Jake Bedford, Darious Darkin, Craig Jones, Daniel Ludlow, Brett Mander, Christopher (Billy) Russell, Daniel Parker, Rico Taylor, Sean Williams.
