DROITWICH Spa Ladies maintained their 100 per cent start to the Summer League with 13-0 rout versus Bromsgrove C last week.

Droitwich started in a measured way and moved the ball around the park using the midfield duo of Claire Darby and Laura Hunt to spread the ball out wide.

Spa did not have to wait long to open their account, as they scored three goals in three first half minutes.

Katie Brooker opened her Summer League account with a neat finish at the back stick after Hannah Robson’s run and unselfish pass.

Robson’s produced an emphatic finish to beat Bromsgrove’s keeper and then bagged her second after carving open the opposition defence.

Bromsgrove started to pour forward as they used the counter-attack to try and expose Spa defence. This led to several opportunities but Bromsgrove could not capitalise as Sue Williams and Pat Hine stepped in.

Lucy Hine bagged two goals in as many minutes as Spa powered into a 6-0 lead.

Stunned Bromsgrove nearly pulled one back but a fierce effort clipped Kaylie Thomas’ near post.

Sue Williams flashed a shot wide but Claire Darby bagged Droitwich’s seventh goal to hand them a convincing half-time lead.

In he second half, Spa started the second quickly and Brooker added an eighth and her second of the match.

Robson secured her hat-trick with another astute finish to beat Bromsgrove’s keeper.

Lucy Hine also made it a treble, taking her tally to five for the season, with a low crisp shot which rattled the back boards.

Williams finally got the goal she deserved as she scored from a short corner.

Bromsgrove tried to break down Spa’s resolute defence but found the whole team was tracking back and putting tackles in to keep their clean sheet in contact.

There were more goals for Droitwich when Robson added her fourth of the game and Laura Hunt completed the rout when she swept the ball across the face of the keeper.

Spa will be hoping to continue their goal-laden form and unbeaten run against their next opponents Stourport Blue this week.
