BROMSGROVE Town Bowling Club are hoping to encourage more people into the sport by offering two months free membership.

The club have teamed up with the District Council in a bid to increase the number of people taking part.

Bowls has been identified by as the ideal exercise for those who have suffered health problems, as long as they have approval from their doctors.

The club, which is based at Sanders Park, also want to attract ex-sportsmen who have given up their former sports because of advancing age.

Bowls is classed as a sport for all ages with their oldest member 91 years old.

To help entice new members, they are also offering two months free membership, allowing anyone interested to experience the social side of the club as well.

People outside of the area are also welcome to join, with some current members living up to 16 miles away.

The club was formed in 1968 at the behest of Bromsgrove council to make full use of the newly opened bowling green in Sanders Park.

Alternatively, they can attend the club nights on Thursdays between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

Those trying the game must bring a pair of flat soled shoes or trainers.
