RED hot Sporting stretched their unbeaten run to ten games in the Midland Combination to rout Alvis on Saturday.

With Brocton being held to a draw by Studley, second-placed Bromsgrove closed the gap on the leaders to two points, although they do have four games in hand.

Both sides started quickly, with Sporting getting their first chance with two minutes on the clock when Lewis Clarke's shot was parried by Alvis keeper Chris Woodward.

The home team responded a couple of minutes later with midfielder Tommy Maguire's long range effort saved low by Sporting shot-stopper Jake Bedford.

Mark Bellingham opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a header after a move instigated by Joe Cole and involving Sean Williams and Sam Wilkinson.

Sporting mved the ball round well and as a result created a couple of decent chances that Darius Darkin just put over the bar and three minutes before the interval Danny Ludlow did the same.

Alvis's best chance came on 40 minutes when Christian Jordan should have done better when his shot scraped past Bedford's right hand post.

But the avalanche of goals came in the second half and Clarke got the ball rolling when he rose unmarked to head home for Bromsgrove's second.

The Rouslers' third came on 73 minutes courtesy of a well-taken free-kick from Williams which unluckily for Alvis took a slight deflection on it way into the net.

Clarke bagged his second and Sporting's 100th in all competitions for the season with another header, this time from Chris Duggan's cross.

Chris Russell headed home a fifth goal and Brett Mander completed the scoring with a simple finish.
