SALLY Hogan and Conor Smith were Bromsgrove and Redditch AC’s strongest performers at the English National Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park in Nottingham.

Under-15s runner Smith was the fastest of the club’s men home, coming 39th out of 348 finishers while Hogan in the junior women came in at 24 minutes and 31 seconds.

Meanwhile, Orianna Ball then finished in 127th place.

In the under-13s, Amy Mijovic-Cauldwell recovered from a slip to claim a top 100 spot (93rd) out of over 400 runners.

Alice Battey (142nd), Ellie Moss (175th) and Anna Nicod (275th) completed the BRAC team which finished a respectable 26th out of 53 clubs.

In the senior women, Tamara Ball was first home for the club in 192nd place and was followed by Charlotte Ball (349th) and Jane Anderson (520 th).

In the men's seniors 12km race, Joe Smith once again led the B&R squad home, finishing 250th out of over 1600 finishers.

Simon Lanckham (660th) picked the longest cross country race of the season to make his come back from injury and ran well to be third.

Mark Appleton (487 th), Andy Freeman (743 rd), Matt Henney (869 th), Steve Brooks (961 st) and Ian Keyte (1092nd) made up the rest of the scoring six that took 60th spot out of 127 places.

Phil Anderson (1371 st) was lapped by ninth-placed Jonathon Brownlee (Bingley Harriers & AC) the 2012 World Triathlon Champion and bronze medallist at the London Olympics.

BRAC finished ahead of higher placed teams from the Birmingham League such as Leamington, Rugby & Northampton and most pleasingly of all local rivals Halesowen.
