BATTLING Droitwich Ladies suffered a 10-0 loss at the hands of Worcestershire League Division One leaders Harborne.

Spa dominated the first 20 minutes but they were breached in the 23rd from a well-worked short corner.

Harborne added two further strikes in four minutes, while Jasmine Williams had Droitwich’s best chance to score.

But Harbone pressed home their advantage, scoring four goals in the opening, which included two penalty corner goals, as Droitwich found it difficult to break forward.

Keeper Kaylie Thomas made some good saves in the second period to keep the score down, but Harborne breached the defence again to score a further three well-worked goals in a minute spell to leave the final score 10-0.

Droitwich play at home against title-chasing Bromsgrove on Saturday.

The seconds were edged out 1-0 by Redditch in Division Two.

Spa started well with a new attacking partnership of Lou Warrilow and Rachel Cooper.

In the second half, Droitwich had lots of positive play but lost to a scrambled effort.

The men’s seconds team battled back from a two-goal deficit but lost 5-3 to Market Drayton.

They responded well to conceding two goals inside the opening ten minutes, with a change of formation giving them new impetus.

Nick Bates made it 15 goals for the season and Tommy Ross also scored but Drayton went onto win the match.

Paul Woodward bagged two goals as Droitwich thirds saw off Wolverhampton 3-0.

On Sunday, the thirds played Streetly in a rearranged clash and lost 4-0.

Their best chance fell to Brett Gwillam whose flick from a penalty corner flew over the bar. Droitwich take on relegation rivals Kingsheath Pickwick on Saturday.
