BROMSGROVE School’s under-16s boys hockey team finished runners-up at the National Indoor Hockey Finals in January.

The school’s under-16s boys and under-18s girls qualified through the regional rounds to each be one of 10 teams from across the country competing for the national title.

The school also cemented their reputation as one of the region’s most prominent sports schools by hosting the girls under-18s in their 500 seater multi-million pound new sports arena.

The girls met some very strong competition and were not able to progress into the knockout stages, despite being cheered on by the supportive home crowd.

The boys competed in the under-16s category at Whitgift School where they played well to get to the final against a talented side from Exeter School.

Exeter were the best opposition in the tournament and had enjoyed a 100 per cent record to power all the way to the final.

That impressive run of results was not to be broken in the final and, in a competitive match, Bromsgrove lost 2-1.

Meanwhile, at the Prep School, Bromsgrove under-13s boys’ team were crowned winners at the Foremarke Hall tournament, showing great promise for the future.
