BROMSGROVE must find their cutting edge if they are to end their disastrous run of results, insists head coach Ross Baxter.

The Boars start the New Year third from bottom, after losing the last five matches in the National North Two.

That has seen them slip into a relegation battle.

Their poor form will face another severe test on Saturday, when they take on second-in-the-table Darlington Mowden Park at Finstall Park (2.15pm kick-off).

The North East outfit will be heading to Bromsgrove on the back of the six straight wins and are also the division’s top scorers.

Ross Baxter said: “Darlington are the most attacking side in the league, they are a threat from a number of different positions.

“Our biggest problem is a lack of cutting edge, otherwise there are many areas of our game such as set pieces where we are solid.”

The Boars will have to shake off the disappointment of their 24-5 defeat at Midlands rivals Luctonians on December 21.

Bromsgrove had the lion’s share of possession, but were punished for failing to take their chances when the home side scored a host of tries late on.

Baxter added: “That defeat was hard to take because we should have won it.

“We had so much of the ball, but we lacked precision and execution when it mattered.

“The team is strong at set pieces, but we are lacking confidence when it comes to scoring tries,” he said.

“I am sure if we can cross the white line it will return.

“We are in precarious position, but there is a lot of rugby to be played yet.”

Bromsgrove have no new injury worries going into their home clash.”
