Ryan returns to boost Fairfield's striking options
11:50am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in Sport
FAIRFIELD Villa boss Paul Oakes is set to re-sign striker Ryan Sproston ahead of back-to-back away games at Chelmsley Town on Satuarday and Barnt Green Sparta on Wednesday.
The striker missed almost all of last season but has scored 13 goals in three Sunday games since his return having netted 23 times during his previous spell with Villa.
Harvey Pearson has also been signed as a replacement for Adam Guest who is set to join Midland Combination Premier outfit Littleton.
Centre forward Pete Jenvey and central midfielder Steve McGlen are both unlikely to figure this weekend through injury.
Oakes, whose side were beaten 3-0 at home by Combination One leaders Cadbury on Saturday, said: “i’m hoping Ryan will be with us for the Chelmsley game, he was with us the season before last but has only just returned after a knee injury.
“We made some schoolboy errors against Cadbuy but they are a very good side and as I told the lads to put things into perspective we have still only lost two games this season and both of those were to the league’s top two.
“We have some winnable games coming up now and it’s an opportunity to pick ourselves up.”.
