Success for C team

First published in Sport

BROMSGROVE men’s C team resumed the competitive season with a 3-1 win at Ombersley.

Tomlinson and Willis continued their winning ways being victorious in both their matches.

The first, against Dieppe and Griffiths of Ombersley was close-fought and went to three sets before they emerged as winners by 7-5 in the final set after being 5-2 down.

The result against Barwell and Taylor was more straight forward winning in two sets.

Bromsgrove’s second pair McGregor and Errington lost a close three set match to Barwell and Taylor, before having an easy win against Dieppe and Griffiths.

Victory means Bromsgrove can still earn promotion if they win their final two matches.

Last week, Bromsgrove saw a mixed C and D team edged out by Cutnall Green in their annual friendly clash.

Five of the six rubbers went to tie-break as Cutnall won 4-2.

McGregor and Niedzwiedz beat Taylor and Stanley, but lost to Truswell and Woodward.

Tomlinson and Errington defeated Moore and Russell-Brown, but were also beaten by Truswell and Woodward.

Casey and Hewston lost both rubbers in tie breaks to Taylor and Stanley and Moore and Russell-Brown.
