FAIRFIELD Villa joint-boss Paul Oakes believes his in-form team won’t be fazed by a glut of away games this month.

Villa only have one match at home over the next few weeks when they return to the Recreation Ground to mark the completion of their new changing facilities with a Midland Combination Division One clash against Alvis.

Otherwise, they kicked-off a testing January fixture list against Greenhill yesterday, go to Knowle on Saturday (2pm ko) and play Chemsley Wood on January 19.

Fairfield then complete a testing month with knock-out clashes against Lye Town in the Smedley Crooke Cup on Tuesday, January 22 and Badsey Rangers in the Worcestershire Junior Cup on January 26.

Oakes said: “I don’t mind a run of away games.

“We’ve played at all these grounds before so there is nothing for us to fear and it doesn’t make make a lot of difference when crowds are not very big.

“To be honest we’ve had quite a few home games so it will be good to get a few away matches out of the way, and it means we’ll have a run of games at the Recreation Ground later in the season.”

Villa saw their excellent run in all competitions frustrated by the wet weather as their festive fixtures were forced off. The clash against fellow high-flyers Hampton on December 22 and the Boxing Day clash at home to Archdale now have to rearranged.

Before that, Fairfield had been on a brilliant run with nine straight wins.

Oakes added: “It was frustrating to have those matches called off because we had everyone available and were in really good form.”
