A TEENAGE basketball star from Bromsgrove has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Australian Olympic Youth Games this month.

Becky Taylor, 16, is part of the team which will play three-on-three for GB at the Darling Harbour in Sydney.

The Youth Games, which run between January 16 and 20, is five days of elite sport where gifted young sports people from 30 nations will battle it out over 17 disciplines.

The events will be played at venues used in the 2000 Sydney Games.

Taylor earned her selection after some fine performances for Bromsgrove Bears over the 12 months.

A pupil at South Bromsgrove High School, the 6ft 3in tall centre is a vital member of the senior women’s squad in the National League Women’s Division Two and the under-16s team.

Coach Dawn Hall said: “Becky really is a very talented young player and it is great for her and the club to be selected for the Youth Games.”
