MANAGER Keith Draper is trying not to get too carried away by his high-flying Bromsgrove Sporting side, despite the fact they are level on points with the leaders in the Midland Combination Premier.

Saturday’s 3-2 victory at Brocton saw them move up to second in the table and left them trailing leaders Walsall Wood on goal difference.

But the Rouslers boss is keeping his feet on the ground, especially as Walsall have three games in hand.

Despite that, there’s no denying Sporting are the league’s red-hot team with one defeat in 16 matches and eight wins in a row in all competitions.

“The players all believe we can win the league this year but I am trying to keep a lid on things,” Draper said.

“There are a number of ways you can look at our position but all we can do is keep winning games and see how the other teams cope.

“Once we get Christmas out of the way I believe we have a lot more home games than away matches, so that could make a difference as our home form is excellent.”

Sporting continued to strengthen their playing staff last week with the addition of midfielder Scott Devlin from Midland Alliance side Causeway United.

He joins new arrivals Lee Dunkley and Andy Nicol, both of whom played in Saturday’s victory.

The Rouslers turn their attentions to the Midland Combination Challenge Cup this weekend at Lichfield City (3pm ko).

Last night’s Worcestershire Senior Urn clash against Malvern has been postponed because of the weather.

Meanwhile, the club are currently putting together a written response to allegations by Alvechurch they broke the rules signing Elliott Nash and Nicol. They have a deadline of December 4 to reply to Worcestershire FA’s questions.

Sporting are also trying to set a new date for the match between Bromsgrove Rovers Old Boys and Aston Villa All-Stars, which was called off.
