JOINT Fairfield Villa boss Paul Oakes is aiming to find a solution to their goal-keeping crisis ahead of Saturday’s Worcestershire FA Junior Cup clash at Inkberrow.

Villa could have to call on the services of utility man Steve Frost after the club was hit hard by a host on keeper injuries.

Spencer Hunt is out long term with shin splints, while replacement James Burrows only last 40 minutes on his debut in Saturday’s 5-2 win over Droitwich Spa.

Burrows had only joined from neighbours Bromsgrove Sporting but broke his metatarsal in the 40th minute and is now set to be out for eight weeks.

Villa are hoping to bring in Neil Leach from Earlswood after submitting a seven-day approach but under Worcestershire FA rules, players must be registered 14 days in advance of the cup.

Oakes said: “We are without a keeper at the moment unless we get dispensation from Worcestershire FA. There was someone from the FA at the game on Saturday so they know how bad it is.”

Villa have also put in a seven-day approach for Redditch United reserve team hitman Brendan Hicks after another striker left.

Martin Slevin has joined Littleton, although Fairfield have reported them to the county FA claiming an illegal approach was made, and Andy Nicol joining Bromsgrove Sporting last week, Fairfield are a little light up front.
