BROMSGROVE and Redditch AC’s women’s team finished fifth in the first Midlands Cross Country League round in Leamington.

Out of a field of 280 runners with 38 teams represented this event is one of the biggest the club faces The first three scorers, Sally Hogan (28th, 28 minutes 10 seconds), Katy Anderson (36th, 28.35) and Tamara Ball (54th, 29.42) took the A side to a respectable 10th place with the veteran runners also taking 10th in the team event.

The club’s juniors travelled to Wolverhampton to take part in the West Midland’s Young Athletes’ League second round.

In the under-17s men’s race, 60 competitors took part with Calum Smith finishing first for the club in 17th (17.44).

He was followed by James Downing (35th, 19.00) and Lewis Anderson (60th, 22.37).

The under-15 boys saw 82 competitors take part. Ben O’Connor was first for the club in 47th place in 13.06, followed by Andrew Pearson (64th, 13.55), Conor Lewis (69th, 14.11) and Kieran Henry (82nd, 16.20).

The under-13s boys competition saw the highest placing of the day for the club with Altay Gardiner finishing in 14th position in 9.47.

Next was Cameron Cooper (24th, 10.11), Joshua Pearson (32nd, 10.24), Max Battle (46th, 10.47) and Elliot Omahony (68th, 11.32).

Felix Gill (27th, 6.51) and Trenten Roberts (67th, 7.45) shone in the under-11s.

In the under-17s women’s competition where BRACs Anna Ball finished 20th in 18.18.

In the under-15s, 135 runners competed and Imogen Freeman finished 17th (13.30).

There were also strong performances by Amelia Tompkin (53rd, 15.28), Ruth Gameson (60th, 15.58) and Lillie Murphy (70th, 16.43).

The under-13s had Olivia Worth (28th, 10.47), Megan Nicod (35th, 10.54) and Amy Mijovic-Couldwell (36th, 10.55) in action.
