HEAD coach Ross Baxter believes Bromsgrove can end their wait for a win against high-flyers Hull Ionians on Saturday.

Baxter watched as his Boars side gave in-form Sheffield Tigers a fright before being edged out 42-41 in Yorkshire in the National Division Two North.

That means the Finstall Park outfit have not tasted victory in five league games, although they have won a generous amounts of bonus points.

But Baxter believes they can beat second-placed Hull at home on Saturday (3pm ko).

He said: “We played very well on Saturday, we wanted to focus on team spirit and effort and the values of last season.

“The game ebbed and flowed and every time we took the lead or got to within a try we looked a bit fragile.

“But if we can add a bit of composure to our game on Saturday then I am sure we can win.”

Baxter was also full of praise for club physio Anna Curnow and the medical staff at Sheffield, who were first on the scene to treat captain Tom Warren after he was left unconscious in the second-half.

Warren was on the pitch for nearly an hour before being taken by ambulance to hospital, where an X-ray revealed no serious injury.

Baxter said: “The treatment of incidents like this has really improved and Anna and the other staff did a great job.”
