I WRITE in response to the letter from an unnamed correspondent published in the Advertiser on May 9 regarding Barnt Green Parish Council’s decision to purchase Queen’s Diamond Jubilee mugs for each household in the parish.
This was a unanimous decision by the parish council to mark this significant historical event. The council has already received several comments from parishioners supporting the decision.
These include: “I think this is a very generous gesture by the council,”
“I still have my commemorative mug from the Queen’s Coronation in 1953”
and “I collect commemorative mugs and this will be a splendid addition.”
I can only surmise that your correspondent is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
John Jagger, chairman, Barnt Green Parish Council
