Closure worry

DROITWICH readers may remember when their lido was closed temporarily on ‘health and safety grounds’ for ‘minor refurbishment’, only to remain closed for some years while Wychavon tried to sell it off to shadowy private developers and obscure leisure companies.

They will also recall how The Worcestershire Hotel was closed for ‘routine maintenance work’, then left to rot and finally demolished after many years to build flats.

Chawson Community Hall has been neglected and Wychavon are opposing locals’ attempts to protect it’s playing fields as ‘Village Green’, so they can build over both. Now we hear the Spa’s brine baths are closed on ‘health & safety grounds’ for ‘minor refurbishment’, and may sadly wonder if history is being repeated?
