Far too similar

I READ with interest the article regarding the design of the health centre and must agree that the overall appearance is dreadful. I feel anyway that all the new buildings erected in Droitwich town centre look the same.

The Health centre is grey, bland and generally a most depressing building not at all conducive to the reasons for visiting it.

I actually feel it resembles something more on the lines of a Borstal or prison but then a number of these buildings have more appeal and character.

I have only been in the centre once and even the inside I feel, is badly designed. The walls are already marked where the backs of the waiting room chairs have scuffed them.

I really can’t understand why someone doesn’t employ some common sense to designing these rooms, it will need redecorating very soon, unless it is left like the old centre to just deteriorate year after year.

I attended a number of the meetings when designs were being discussed and I have now come to the conclusion that, like everything in Droitwich, a decision has already been made, because we can fight until we are blue in the face for what we, the residents, actually want, but no one seems to listen and the plans are a foregone conclusion.

On a separate subject, unfortunately you haven’t given an address for response, therefore I will include it with this one.

I read the article, ‘A festive period to remember’ and whilst I initially agree with the heading and most of the comments, I honestly feel that a number of points made in this piece encouraging us to support the town, again have fallen on deaf ears.

I support the town and local traders as much as I possibly can but how on Earth do you expect a number of the shop keepers to continue trading when their rents are extortionate.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to drop the rent and have furnished shops?

The other point to note is why haven’t we got an extensive assortment of stores ie, we have lost our sports shop in the High Street, a superb store with knowledgeable staff, it would also be worth pointing out that we have no facilities for purchasing casual, good quality clothes ie, a Fat Face, or White Clothing Company, a decent jewellers and a deli to name but a few.

Again, I wrote letters when the redesign was being discussed and made these points, but as above I think the decisions are a foregone conclusion.

I generally think Droitwich is a lovely town, I was born in the town but with all the building that is going on, if we are not careful, it will be ruined.
