Kit Taylor says residents are better protected – this may be true, but not because of anything Kit Taylor or Bromsgrove District Council has done. This was a private injunction [to remove travellers], paid for by private individuals.
Mr Taylor says this “reiterates that we will not tolerate illegal occupancy of land, anywhere”.
How does a private injunction “reiterate”
the Council will not tolerate illegal occupancy of land??
In fact, my understanding is that Bromsgrove District Council are still refusing to use their powers in The Criminal Justice & Public Order Act – section 77 and it’s only thanks to the work of the police that we are now tackling this problem.
However, the police action we are now seeing is a direct result of a group of diligent residents of Alvechurch, and the combined work of Alvechurch & Stoke Parish Councils.
To see individuals like Mr Taylor (his department is under special measures and has been accused of being one of the worst in the country) taking undue credit is, I’m afraid, typical.
I was present in the council chamber when he again took credit for the removal of travellers last year!
