I MOVED to Droitwich 15 years ago because of the easy access to open fields, footpaths and woodland.
I have watched with dismay the decimation of our countryside which continues with no concern for local people’s wishes or the loss of habitat and flora, leaving no open green spaces to enjoy the exercise so important for healthy living.
The government preaches the importance of outside exercise but then ignores their own policies by overriding the wishes of local councils and residents and giving developers carte blanche to build.
Even road traffic rules can change. A narrow road like Newland Road can be a dangerous hazard until government officials change their mind when it can become a bus route.
Developers consistently get planning permission then ride roughshod over the conditions and the council seems powerless to act.
Housing take priority over everything and we have to stand up and fight for the few open green spaces around our town that we have left.
