BROMSGROVE District Council’s logic in giving free car parking after 7pm is to encourage night-time trade in the town centre.
This is estimated to cost BDC approximately £60,000 in lost car parking revenue.
Unfortunately there is not a plan to monitor the hopeful increase in night-time business.
A question remains: is the council unwittingly benefitting a supermarket and a few pubs? Surely, if the Council is prepared to risk £60,000 on a decision when there is no plan to monitor change, it begs the question why deprive the Artrix Theatre of the £60,000 Bromsgrove District Council grant?
