THE Burcot Gardening Club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at Burcot Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Each month we have a guest speaker who talks to us on various gardening or wild life subjects, and this is followed by a cup of tea or coffee and a bit of a chat. In the summer, we have at least one garden visit, and in November a Members Evening which usually involves skittles, refreshments and various competitions.

New members and visitors will always be very welcome.

The January Meeting was our annual New Year’s Dinner. This was held at the Bromsgrove Golf Club on January 7 and as usual seemed to go down very well. Our members enjoyed the social evening, and the chance to let their hair down whilst savouring the very good food.

There was an extensive raffle which raised £76. which will go towards our club funds.

Thanks should go to Di Johnson and Jo Banks for organizing the event, Val and Michael Doherty for running the raffle, and Trish Shepheard for the rousing speech at the end.

Next month’s meeting, which will also be our AGM – is on the topic of “Down Quiet Roads in Cornwall”.

The speaker will be Adrian James who will introduce us to less well known gardens to visit in Cornwall.
