AFTER seeing the article regarding a Bromsgrove resident’s anger at the fact the council are spending £15k of the tax payers money on a French trapeze act for the festival (April 16, Bromsgrove Advertiser), I had to write in.

I am a local 24-year-old DJ and events organiser, currently running two successful urban music events within Bromsgrove (S.A.L.T and NO KIP) which both regularly sell out and have very good and dedicated followings.

Initially back in January I saw an advert encouraging local people to contact the festival organisers to get involved so I sent a lengthy email explaining who I was and what I do within the town, for the people of the town.

After having no response I sent the email again CCing other members of the festival’s organisation team, again, no response.

Then yesterday I saw the article mentioned and was enraged at how the council can justify spending £15k on a French act that no one from the town has even heard of before, whilst the people who already work hard for events within the town simply get ignored.

Isn’t this meant to be the ‘BROMSGROVE Festival’?

The councillors and event organisers involved need to give their heads a wobble.
