I HAVE no wish that any part of Bromsgrove becomes a suburb of Birmingham or Redditch either – well said Councillor Hardman.
However, the commitment to accommodate both Redditch and Birmingham housing overspill in the Bromsgrove development plan has committed its residents to this likelihood.
We’ve been duped into this and I’m uncomfortable with the level of detail in the Birmingham and Solihull LEP we’ve been presented with.
Bromsgrove has a problem with the road infrastructure already, as highlighted by the Whitford Road application and the amount of development in Hagley.
The additional 3,000 Bromsgrove housing target needed after Whitford Road and Perryfields are approved, plus 3,500 from Redditch, makes it impossible to imagine how and where Birmingham’s needs can be accommodated.
Unless Bromsgrove residents wake up to this fact and act, there’ll be more of the type of planning meetings seen on June 30 with Whitford Road. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
Steve Colella Hagley ward councillor
