I, ALONG with many other parents in Bromsgrove no doubt, was dismayed and disappointed to hear Mothercare would be closing its store in March.
With a young child and another due imminently, I rely heavily upon that store for essential items and it is one, if not the only reason, I would often walk into Bromsgrove.
It seems that the much delayed high street regeneration has been too little, too late for this retailer and I do wonder if the council could have done more to secure the store in the High Street longer term.
Indeed, I would ask anyone from the council whether they had any dialogue with Mothercare to try to keep them in the High Street and offer them some incentive to do so?
The High Street is losing all its main retailers and soon there will be no reason to even come into the town at all, other than for charity shops and discount retailers.
The nearest Mothercare for shopping or “free delivery to store” is now Merry Hill or Birmingham – too far for me to travel.
