Thanks to everyone who signed the Fairtrade Bromsgrove petition at the Oxfam bookshop and various churches. The council’s overview and scrutiny board considered it in January and, with a healthy majority, decided to make recommendations to cabinet.

It’s bleeding cold

AT the blood donor session at the Old Labour Club (now Members’ Club) in Bromsgrove on February 3, the session start, due for 1.30pm, was delayed by an hour because the hall hired by the NHS was well below temperature (blood will not flow properly from cold bodies).

I feel it necessary to respond to the correspondent from Alvechurch, who refers to the planning applications for affordable housing in his area suggesting that the council tax payer will be funding the building and future repair of the dwellings.
