Carrying a flame

10:14am Thursday 12th August 2010

IT was July 1955 when I first heard the word Bromsgrove.

Many thanks

7:00am Tuesday 10th August 2010

Thank you to all who supported and helped the Save the Children stall and raffle at the Elizabethan Market.

Good Samaritans

7:00am Monday 9th August 2010

TO the extremely kind ladies who took my tabby cat to the Clent Hills vets after she was knocked over in Catshill on July 12, I can’t thank you enough and I want to get in touch with you, but cannot get hold of your number.

Off the booze

7:00am Monday 9th August 2010

to the very kind gentleman who spoke to me in Penrice Road on Monday night. I wish to assure him that I spoke to my GP the same evening. I am now booked on a detoxification course and have given my house keys (and car keys) to my husband.

School memories

7:00am Sunday 8th August 2010

I WAS a pupil at St Mary’s Convent School, Mount Batenhall, from 1957-1967 and I intend to write a book about the history of the school when it first started in 1934 by the Sisters of St Marie Madeleine Hostel Nuns of the Order.

Shameful theft

7:00am Sunday 8th August 2010

THROUGH your letters page I would just like to say that I hope the person who stole a terracotta pot of begonias and other plants from my mother and father’s grave in the Bromsgrove cemetery is enjoying them.

School invitation

7:50am Saturday 7th August 2010

IN reply to the letter on July 28 by an anonymous concerned parent which in my opinion contains a number of provocative statements.

Superb festival

7:50am Saturday 7th August 2010

MAY I congratulate For Droitwich Spa on their presentation of a superb musical and arts festival in 2010.

Bonfire misery

7:50am Friday 6th August 2010

Perhaps the inconsiderate neighbour on the Old Birmingham Road will give more thought to lighting a bonfire next time.

Built in haste

7:50am Friday 6th August 2010

I HAVE read the letter, Time to move on, by someone it seems unwilling to have their name and address printed.

Rovers’ bid was embarrassing

9:54am Thursday 5th August 2010

I was probably as surprised as anyone to read that the Rovers had lost the bidding process to keep the lease on the Victoria Ground.

Do we need it?

9:55am Thursday 5th August 2010

JULY 24 saw the return of Sajid Javid to Bromsgrove town centre collecting signatures for a petition to get funding back for the £8m revamped train station. Yes I agree the train station does need upgrading, but that £8m could be spent more importantly on other back line services that are facing cutbacks. Jobs have and are being lost in all public sectors – that’s fewer teachers, less nurses, less emergency services, cutbacks in army spending and some of these posts are now being filled by, not paid staff, but volunteers.

Accountability

7:20am Monday 2nd August 2010

SO those who make decisions are known and accountable, the new coalition government is getting rid of unelected organisations such as quangos and regional assemblies.

Cinnamon Trust

7:20am Sunday 1st August 2010

ON behalf of the Cinnamon Trust, I would like to thank everyone involved with our stall at the Bromsgrove Carnival on July 10 and 11.

Swimming cuts

7:20am Sunday 1st August 2010

I WAS very disappointed to learn that after July 30 elderly residents in Worcestershire will be unable to swim in the Dolphin pool for free during public swimming hours. I am 80 years of age and appreciate this facility as a means of exercise. The only concession I receive from the council is a free bus pass and from where I live that is very awkward to use. I do understand that cuts have to be made, but why does it always hit the elderly?

A duty of care

7:20am Saturday 31st July 2010

I’M writing in respect of the state of the pavement on the Kidderminster Road, Hampton Lovett, at the Stonebridge island end.

Is it a killer dog?

7:20am Saturday 31st July 2010

I REFER to the letter in The Advertiser on July 14, Urban fox warning, and would ask if my letter as follows could be printed.

There is still hope for station

10:21am Friday 30th July 2010

YOUR otherwise excellent article on the handover of the Bromsgrove Society presidency from me to John Weston did not include any reference to my farewell address to the members, which covered my work over the past 12 months.

Good Samaritans

10:22am Friday 30th July 2010

ON Saturday, July 10, my mother, myself and the dog had just entered Bromsgrove High Street at 11.45am when my mother became extremely unwell – it was very hot.

It’s dangerous

7:00am Monday 26th July 2010

I found S Taylor’s comments a little unbalanced and puzzling with regards to the matter of the Oakalls roundabout.
