Medic attacker didn't keep appointments - court
A WORCESTER woman has appeared in court for breaching her community order.
The city's magistrates heard Lieann Smith had failed to turn up to a work placement at Oxfam twice at the beginning of the year.
Richard Schwab, prosecuting on behalf of the probation service, said: "She failed to attend on January 3 this year and no evidence was recieved in relation to that failure.
"She also failed to attend on January 10."
Mr Schwab said Smith had worked a total 91-and-a-half hours and only had 23-and-a-half hours to go on the original order imposed on her following a common assault on an ambulance crew member in May 2005.
However, the 24-year-old of St George's Walk, Barbourne, also had additional hours to complete on top of that for another breach relating to another assault offence, this time to her neighbours.
In mitigation Chris Hilton said his client had suffered from a number of problems including alcohol, bereavements, and a miscarriage.
"She needed help and that is what is still required today," he said. "She has sought to address issues."
Mr Hilton said the reason why Smith had breached her unpaid work placement was because she was not finding it a help in tackling her problems.
"But she is motivated to get the help she needs," he said.
Worcester magistrates revoked all of her existing orders and sentenced her to a six-month supervision order with requirements to attend the Asha Centre instead.
A three-month period in custody has been suspended for 12 months.
