Classmates meet up after half a century

A REUNION took place on Sunday for more than 20 ex-pupils of St Peter’s Girls School in Droitwich.

The town’s Lido Park was the venue for a picnic to celebrate the 70th birthday of those who had left the school between 1950 and 1954.

Janet Clarke, who organised the event, said it was “a lovely day!”.

She said: “We had more than 21 turn up from the school, but about 50 people came along as none of them came alone. They bought husbands and children and grandchildren. Everyone socialised very well.”

Six of the guests also featured in an old class photo that was brought along to the picnic.

“One of the girls had her 70th birthday, so the band in the park played happy birthday,” said Mrs Clarke.

‘I was quite pleased with the result, it wasn’t a waste of time to organise it. They were all pleased to meet each other again’ she said.
