Basketball coach gets trial date - court

A WELL-known Worcester basketball coach will stand trial for witness intimidation in June.

Former Worcester Chiefs coach George Fraser-Barker appeared before Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday for a pre-trial review, having been charged with two counts of attempting to intimidate witnesses in a separate case against him.

Forty-nine-year-old Fraser-Barker denies both charges and now faces a two-day trial at Hereford Magistrates Court on June 10.

Formally of Egremont Gardens in Warndon Villages, Fraser-Barker is currently being forced to live with his parents at Haywards Heath in West Sussex as part of his bail conditions.

He was released yesterday on condition he does not enter Worcestershire unless for a court appearance or pre-arranged meeting with his solicitor; that he does not contact any witnesses in any way; and that he continues to reside at his parents' house.

Magistrates gave him special dispensation to briefly return to his Worcester home - where his wife is still living - for two hours following yesterday's hearing, to allow him to collect some computer files for work purposes.

Fraser-Barker will also stand trial in Worcester on May 19, charged with harassing Emma Gardner, his former partner of 13 years, without violence.
