POLICE are investigating an unexplained death in Lavender Road, Worcester.

The body of a 58-year-old man has been discovered after he suffered a cardiac arrest. 

The death is being treated as unexplained, with residents of the road believing he suffered a head wound. 

Forensic vans are at the site, with the road closed for the foreseeable future.

Police have cordoned off the street where it meets Barbourne Road, for about 100 yards down the road. 

A friend of the deceased man, who did not wish to be named, said: "I can't believe this has happened. He was the most amazing bloke.

"He has been amazing to me when I have had a few troubles recently.

"He was a great friend to everyone he knew."

West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed that it was called to the scene shortly before 4am this morning to reports of a man in cardiac arrest.

Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

When crews arrived they found a man in cardiac arrest.

The team immediately started advanced life support at the scene before he was taken by land ambulance on blue lights to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. 

Resuscitation efforts continued en route to A&E.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to an address in Lavender Road, Worcester at around 4.00am today (Thursday, 21 June) after the body of 58 year old man was discovered.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained. A post mortem is due to take place and next of kin has been informed.

"Lavender Road is currently closed.

"Anyone with any information which could assist police is asked to call 101 and quote incident reference number 0054s of 21 June."
