IT'LL be a hoppy Easter for staff and volunteers at a Worcestershire animal rescue centre as its new rabbit and small animal house is officially opened.

And to mark the occasion, RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch is holding an Easter open day for people to view the new facilities.

There will be a variety of stalls on the day, including a children's Easter Egg hunt, magician, prize draw/raffle and a best dressed child bunny competition. There will also be light refreshments, with a Prosecco cart and sweet treats available.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, said: "Please join your local RSPCA branch this Easter at our Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre to celebrate the opening of our new state-of-the-art rabbit and small animal house.

"As well as all the fun on the day we will be inviting people to sponsor one of the gorgeous bunnies we have at The Holdings. For a one-off payment of £10, you will receive a personalised sponsorship certificate featuring your chosen rabbit.

"Sponsorship will help ensure the bunnies are well fed and stocked with extra treats over Easter."

The 20-pod rabbit and small animal house is the latest addition to the facilities at The Holdings, in Holdings Lane, Kempsey, Worcester WR5 3FP.

A 20-pen cattery opened on the five-acre site in 2016 as part of the charity's £1 million project which began during a centenary appeal in 2011. The next phase is to build the reception building which will house the vets room, dog shower room, kitchen and 20 dog kennels.

The Easter open day takes place on Saturday, March 31, from 10.30am to 3pm. Entry is £1 with under 12s free and free car parking.
