A CHARITY dog walk last weekend in Malvern raised over £250 for Leukaemia CARE, a national blood cancer charity based in Worcester.

Over 40 dogs entered the competition categories, with prizes donated and presented by local traders.

After the competitions, dogs and their owners took part in two walks, one around the town and the other up to the Worcestershire Beacon.

Organiser Nick York said: “The event was a great success. The dogs were all well-behaved and the weather held out for us. Several people who had never made it to the Beacon before actually managed to reach it on the day.

“It was an excellent way to raise awareness of leukaemia and its symptoms. Nearly 60 people attended the event, and the town really got behind it. I’m grateful to all those who volunteered their time and services to make it such a success.”
