A WOMAN from Worcester has spoken of her horror after seeing a driver crash into a tree in front of her.

Claire Spencer was driving in Belbroughton when the car "took off over a roundabout."

She said: "She was in front of me and lost control.

"She was really travelling at speed.

"She just took off over the roundabout and and there was a massive old tree.

"Another guy came and helped me prise the door open.

"He didn't want me to find a body on my own but she walked away."

The driver of the crashed car miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.

Police said the driver blew 167 at the roadside following the crash today which is nearly five times the legal limit of 35mcg.

Police are expected to take an evidential sample at the police station.

The Operations Patrol Unit in Worcestershire said the driver sustained ‘minor injuries’ in the crash.

The photograph shows a Mercedes with heavy front-end damage after the car struck a tree.

Mrs Spencer added: "There was a guy who came across and saw the car flying in front of him.

"There's no control, nothing you can do."

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that they received a call at 12.30pm at the junction of the A491 and B4091.

She added: “One ambulance attended. We have treated one woman who suffered hand injuries and she was taken to the Alexandra Hospital.

“Two off-duty ambulance staff were at the scene when the ambulance arrived.”
