A FUNDRAISING and awareness event will take place in Lowesmoor on Thursday.

Worcester-based charity Operation Nepali Child will hold the event at Lifehouse Worcester, Elim Church, Lowesmoor on Thursday, July 27 from 7pm.

Ed Turner, aged 26, of Claines, established Operation Nepali Child, which supports orphaned, vulnerable and abandoned children, after spending time teaching in Nepal in 2013.

The event will include a bring a share dinner, a presentation and bucket collection.

The charity, currently helps 19 children each month, but wants to increase this to 100 through further funding.

Mr Tuner said: "It will be great to have people along to help make Operation Nepali Child's vision and plan to support over 100 children.

"During the 2015 earthquakes in Nepal there were considerable national and international media attention and social initiatives to help the country and its people.

"However, there is still much need, suffering and abject poverty in the country, especially among children. I believe events such as this can keep Nepal on the radar of the British people."

Operation Nepali Child has been supporting and working with orphaned, abandoned and destitute children in Nepal since 2014.

Nepal is one of the poorest country in the world, with a population of about 29 million, and is estimated to have more than one million orphaned children.
