A WOOD and steel amphitheatre has been built at a Droitwich school.

The amphitheatre was dismantled, moved and rebuilt after Henley in Arden School offered it free to anyone who could arrange to move it.

Parents and staff pulled together to ensure the structure was collected last year thanks to help from Pride Air Conditioning, a company run by a parent who provided transport.

Volunteers worked for the equivalent of thirty days during the Easter date to create the structure.

The school also entered a competition with Absolute Radio to have a building project completed by Wickes with a prize of rock band Kasabian playing at the venue.

The school didn't win but did reach the final and were given a second prize with Wickes agreeing to pay for decking and to organise the wooden seating required to complete the project.

The presenters of Absolute Radio will also open the amphitheatre once it is finished.
