PERSHORE High School pupils have been finding out about journalism as part of the BBC School Report.

English teacher Nicholas Spice led a group of Year 9 students through activities.

Pupil Jessica Clarke-Morris said: "We have been writing articles about what is currently going on in the news for the BBC News School Report.

"For the first two hours we focused on the pressure on teenagers: we wrote about things like society's expectations of teenagers and how they look, as well as social media pressures, mental health issues teenagers may have, peer pressure, the LGBT community, school uniform and judgement.

"We have also explored the unfairness of educational funding.

"Later we focused on things that have recently happened around the world.

"Some of us wrote about celebrity gossip such as celebrity breakups and divorces, celebrity relationships and babies and the Grammies.

"Others wrote about school funding and things that have gone on in our school.”

Along with Jess, Annabel Tarran, Laure Keyte, Millie Lealan, Amelia Ferriday, Georgie Januszewski, Charlie Cassin, Daisy Cooper, Karus Robinson, Grace Titterton and Archie McIvor all took part.

The BBC School Report is held every year and gives 11-16 year-old students in the UK the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience.
