PUPILS from a Worcester school have debated whether Donald Trump was the right choice for US President.

The year 7 and 8 students from Bishop Perowne CE College held the debate as part of the school's Endeavour Programme.

Assistant headteacher David Kling spoke in favour of the motion 'The house believes that Donald Trump was the people’s choice for President and therefore was the right choice.’

Head of Year 8 Ashley Buxton spoke against it and the students were given the chance to ask questions and challenge the speakers.

At the end of the debate, students voted and the argument against the motion won.

Mark Pollard, headteacher at Bishop Perowne CE College, said: “Our Endeavour Programme aims to challenge and stretch students with a range of activities, from tailored trips to parliamentary debates.

"A total of 100 Year 7 and 8 students were extremely enthusiastic about the event and I was impressed with the intelligent questions they asked. Well done to all involved.”

The school's Endeavour programme recognises consistent high achievers.

The debate took place on Thursday, March 9.
