PEOPLE are being invited to talk about the story behind a typical war memorial.

Just before Remembrance Sunday, Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service are telling the public how the All Saints Worcester War Memorial was created.

The talk will also look at some of the men whose names are recorded, included Victoria Cross winner Frederick Dancox.

Paul Hudson, outreach manager for Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service said: "There is a story behind every war memorial, not just of the men whose names are recorded by the community who organised its creation.

"In the talk we'll look at this particular memorial through the archives left behind."

There are war memorials in every town and village, and in many cases numerous memorials.

This talk will answer questions about the decision making process, as within The Hive are the minutes of a war memorial committee for a Worcester parish.

These minutes tell the story about how this community went about creating their memorial after the end of WWI.

The talk will take place at The Hive on Wednesday 9 November at 7.30pm

Places are £5 and need to be booked in advance.
