A HOLT Heath music group will be holding a special 24-hour charity concert next month.

The event is being hosted by music group, Music for Adults @ Holt, that meets weekly on Thursdays at Holt Heath Village Hall.

To raise money for the African Oyster Trust, the group will be providing continuous live music from 7pm on Friday, October 7, until 7pm on Saturday, October 8.

There will be cello and piano recitals, performances by students on a variety of instruments in duets and larger groups, as well as performances from the Severn Cello Ensemble and the Phoenix Chamber Group.

The Warwickshire-based charity is dedicated to supporting nursery education and health care projects in the Gambia. Money raised will be going to its current work to replace the roof on the library of the Jappineh Lower Basic School.

Joanne Jefferis, music teacher and founder of the group, said: "I have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm the students have shown for filling 24 hours with their playing, especially those who have volunteered to play during the night.

"I will also be offering taster cello lessons for a small donation."

Entry to the event, being held at the Tenbury Road venue is free, with donations welcome.

Refreshments and cakes will be on sale.
